Global broadband provider interTouch to offer guests access to essential travel information
Singapore, 13 August 2007 – interTouch Pte Ltd and NTT Broadband Platform Inc. (NTTBP) announced today the launch of a “Travel Information” Portal Service trial at Hotel New Otani Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan. The four-month trial will enable hotel guests to enjoy complimentary access to travel information from their personal computers or information devices during their stay at the hotel.
Charles Reed, CEO of interTouch said, “interTouch and NTTBP are pleased to partner Hotel New Otani Tokyo to launch the trial of a dedicated portal site that provides hotel guests with access to a wide array of useful travel information, which in the past was only available via a paid Internet service.”
interTouch continues to work closely with hotel partners worldwide to provide leading broadband connectivity services to the global hospitality industry. Hotel New Otani Tokyo became a valued partner in September 2006, when interTouch was commissioned to provide reliable and secure Internet connectivity services to guests at the 1,533-room luxury hotel located at Kioicho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
“The ‘Travel Information’ Portal Service is an initiative that NTTBP and interTouch will look to provide for its hotel partners globally. As the technology needs of travellers become increasingly sophisticated, there is a rising challenge for the hospitality industry to provide guests with value-added services using cutting-edge technology,” added Mr. Reed.
The new portal will enable hotel guests to enjoy free-of-charge access to certain sites on the Internet to obtain vital travel information including news, weather forecasts and gourmet guides in the neighborhood. To view sites that are not included in the portal, guests will be required to pay as usual for high-speed Internet service provided by interTouch.
The ‘Travel Information’ portal service at Hotel New Otani Tokyo is available in Japanese and English for a trial period from 13 August to 31 December this year.
NTTBP and interTouch will explore the implementation of the ‘Travel Information’ portal service on a fully commercialized basis after completion of the trial at Hotel New Otani Tokyo.
